Siouxland Agriculture in the Classroom

Kara Jensen from the Lyon County Farm Bureau came to our 2nd and 4th grade classrooms today. She is the Ag in the Classroom teacher who services four counties and several schools here in Northwest Iowa. She will be coming once a month to share her knowledge and personal experiences in relation to agriculture.

This visit she challenged the students to imagine what our world would be like without agriculture by-products. To help them better understand she brought their attention to several by-products found right here in our classroom. Following her lesson, the students worked in groups to make a list of as many of those examples they could spot. It was fun to see everyone working together to spell the words, think of ideas, and encourage each other. We are very thankful that Miss Jensen came to teach us about by-products and remind us how important agriculture is in our everyday living and learning.
