Happy 2nd Day of 2nd Grade

On the 1st day of 2nd grade we listened to a book called "One Word for Kids...A Great Way to Have Your Best Year Ever" by Jon Gordon, Dan Britton, and Jimmy Page. This book encouraged the children to discover one word that will help them have their best year ever. I asked their parents to have a short conversation with their child last night to help them decide what word they would like to claim for the year. The authors shared with them that the secret is looking in their heart (as well as up and around themselves) and asking themselves what one word will help them be their best.

On the 2nd day of 2nd grade the children were very excited to share their one word. They each came up and whispered their word to me one at a time and some even shared why they chose it or how they came up with it. We captured this special day with fun pictures and plan to display them on their lockers as visual reminders of their word throughout the year.

We think this book is fitting for all ages. What would be your one word?
