About Me

I graduated from Galva-Holstein High School in 1991 and from Buena Vista University in 1995. I started teaching at Central Lyon in 1995. I taught 1st Grade for 4 years, Kindergarten for 16 years, and have been teaching 2nd Grade since 2015...so this is year 30 at CL for me! In fact, this year I have 2 students whose mom or dad I taught in 1st grade! So blessed to be in such a great community and district for that long. In July 1997, I married Tim Boekhout. We celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary this past summer. We have 2 children, Brandt and Brecken. Brandt graduated from CL in 2017 and SDSU in 2021 with a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries. Following that he was awarded a graduate assistantship at ISU where he earned his masters in Fisheries Biology doing research on invasive carp movement and survival in tributaries of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers. He is now a Resource Fisheries Biologist for South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks in Pierre. He enjoys fishing, golfing, and hunting with his three-year-old Small Munsterlander, Brooks (our first granddog). Brecken graduated from CL in 2019 and LATC in 2021 with a degree in Dental Assisting. She is now a full-time Dental Assistant at ABC Pediatric Dentistry in Sioux Falls. She enjoys going to concerts, spending time with friends, and loving her two-year-old Long Haired Weimaraner, Indy (our second granddog). Tim and I also have two dogs, Boomer (15 years old) and Brea (1 year old), who love stuffed toys, naps, and walks. We enjoy living in Rock Rapids, but love traveling anywhere warm and sunny in the winter, especially Florida and Arizona. I enjoy walking my dogs, biking, being home with my family, traveling, thrifting, and eating out with family and friends.
