Deputy Minor Visits 2nd Grade
Today we invited Deputy Minor into our classroom to meet all of our 2nd graders and share more about his new job as our School Resource Officer. We started by having the children introduce themselves and who their parents were. Having been in the community for many years, Deputy Minor recognized a lot of faces and names. Everyone had lots of questions for him about his job as a police officer as well as questions about his family, his favorite number, and what he likes to do in his free time. He talked about what he had to do to become a police officer as well as how his reason for wanting to become one has changed over the years. He shared that at first he thought it sounded like a fun job, but has since realized that he really enjoys this career because he likes helping people. Deputy Minor reminded our students about the new school emergency plan that CL is implementing this year, which we have discussed and practiced as well.
He passed around his handcuffs for the children to look at, let everyone try on his vest, and handed out Lyon County Sheriff Junior Deputy badges which everyone proudly put on before he left. We feel very lucky to have Deputy Minor as our SRO at CL and appreciate him taking the time to come meet everyone today.*please click on the top photos to see more pictures
