FFA Alumni Chapter
Do you have fond memories of FFA, or do you feel that you may have missed out on wearing the blue corduroy jacket when you were in high school? Well, the Central Lyon FFA has something interesting for you! Each year, Mr. Rockhill challenges his new officers with a project that the team can implement during their year of service. In 2017, the officers' chosen project was to create a local alumni organization called Friends of FFA.
What is it you ask? The National FFA Organization originated this chapter in 1971 for the sole purpose of support. The FFA organization relies on its alumni to garner support for the FFA from their local communities, raise funds for the chapter activities, and scholarships, assist at FFA leadership camps and conferences, and more. Students whose lives are impacted by FFA and agriculture education, maybe even yours, will achieve academic and personal growth. You do not have to be a former FFA member to support the FFA, agriculture education and the future of agriculture. The FFA is always looking for people to lend a hand, or support the chapter, and the students efforts to succeed in everything they do.
Since 1928, the roles of FFA members has been something that is recognized nationally. Students being involved in the organization have gained leadership, professional, and personal skills that allow them to be successful. When you look back on the history of FFA, you tie that hand and hand with agriculture. The ag based organization wants all of its member to live out this motto “Learning to do, doing to learn, earning to live, and living to serve.” By following what the organization stands for, and strives for its members to be, greatness can be achieved.
So what does our Alumni Chapter look like? Friends of FFA consists of a network of community members that our current FFA members can rely on throughout their high school years. If this is something that you may be interested in getting involved with, feel free to contact Mr. Rockhill. Thank you for helping us grow!
